Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful time ringing in the New Year and had an exceptionally relaxing weekend. Because we’re going to kick off 2016 with a B-A-N-G!
First up, a review of You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero, a book that was highly recommended to me, that I’m now going to highly recommend to you. Like I said, we’re going to make this the bestyearever. In order to do so, we’re going to pull in all the tools we can get our hands on in the self-development department. Starting with this very book.
You Are a Badass is broken down into five (easy to read) parts:
- How You Got This Way
- How to Embrace Your Inner Badass
- How to Tap Into the Motherlode
- How to Get Over Your BS Already
- How to Kick Some Ass
The author, Jen Sincero, heavily drills into you, the reader, the importance of positive thinking, the power of manifestation, the idea that each person has their own frequency, and all about the power of the universe.
This book will let you examine what it is that you want out of your life, without the judgement of others, and other roadblocks standing in your way. Chapter by chapter, Jen gives you the push you need to finally wake up and live your awesome life, the way it was intended to be lived.
“You need to go from wanting to change your life to deciding to change your life.”
At the end of each chapter is a list of must-do items / tips / helpful items to guide you in your journey. What I loved, was that the last item found itself on each and every list throughout the book:
“Always LOVE YOURSELF“
Isn’t that such a powerful statement? If there isn’t anything else that you take away from this book, other than LOVE YOURSELF, that would be worth the money of the book alone. Seriously, you must learn love yourself. That my friends, is the key to life.
The chapter that really stuck out to me (and maybe it’s because of my own battle right now) was the chapter about forgiveness. This was a great prelude to Part 4: How to Get Over Your BS Already. I loved this part of the book. Why? Because it’s too easy to get wrapped up in our scars and the stories we tell ourselves, and tell to other people. We tend to hold on a bit too tightly by constantly making excuses. As you could have guessed, that entire chunk of the book is dedicated to moving you up and out of your comfort zone (read: wallowing in your BS that holds you back).
Bonus: at the very end of the book, there was a list of books recommended by Jen Sincero. Some of those authors included: Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra, and Napolean Hill. My book Wish List has gotten a bit out of control, but hey! What can I say? This is all in the name of self-development.
Go get ’em!
Verdict: Read!
