Ahh, it certainly has been a month of digging up my old favorites authors! I don’t know where this nostagia is coming from, considering I have a heafty list of new books I’m ready to read. None the less, I’ve been gravitating towards my old favorites recently, and stoked to share another review with you today. I’m reviewing The Bitter Season by Tami Hoag.
QUICK INTRO TO TAMI HOAG (and why I love her)
It’s been at least a year, if not two, since I’ve read a Tami Hoag thriller. If you’re not familiar with Hoag, and you enjoy a suspenseful, energetic murder mystery with sharp dialogue, she’s the girl woman for you. She has written many, many books for you to choose from. I recently learned that Hoag writes not only thrillers, but romance novels as well. (I laughed when I read that, because her thrillers are so gruesome that it’s hard to imagine her writing about hearts and roses.) I’m a huge fan of her Kovac / Liska series. Sam Kovac and Nikki Liska are detectives, they’ve been partners for years in the Minneapolis homicide department. Their series is not to be missed!
ABOUT THE BITTER SEASON
In her best efforts to provide herself with better hours for her teenage boys, Liska has decided to join Minneapolis’s hot new department: cold cases. Kovac isn’t thrilled to get a new partner, but he’ll manage. As Liska and Kovac each receive a new case, an unsolved murder from 25 years ago and a double homicide, respectfully, Liska and Kovac soon find that their paths will cross more often then they expected. Yes, even with these crimes being a quarter century apart. They will twist, and turn, and eventually…in the most unexpected way turn into one solution. Oh the brilliance of Hoag! See, I knew she couldn’t keep Sam and Nikki apart, and for a good reason. The two detectives work so well together.
Is my summary convincing enough for you to go pick up a Kovac / Liska series?
PS. Yes, I did read this on an eBook — grandma, you should be proud!
