I’m thrilled to report that our third pick for a book club book was a success! Third times the charm, eh? For March, Kayla and I are discussing Behind Her Eyes, by Sarah Pinborough. Grab a cup of coffee, and stay a while!
BLOGGER BOOK CLUB | MARCH 2017 | BEHIND HER EYES
Warning, there are spoilers ahead!
How did you like the writer’s style?
DB —The chapters were quick and easy to read, and always ended on a suspenseful note, which kept me wanting more.
Did you decide right away if you liked or disliked the book?
KW — I switch over from books fairly quickly, so it took me a couple of chapters to really get into it (book hangover, I’m sure you understand). But I know I became REALLY intrigued once the two main characters met and got coffee. From that point on, I was hooked.
DB — I knew within the first few chapters that this is a book I’d end up enjoying, regardless of the plot.
Could you relate to any of the characters? If so, who?
DB — Both main characters were great, I enjoyed them both (in their own unique way), and really appreciated their point of view on the situation at hand. Which made it interesting to read about the same event in real time by each character, yet we still have to solve the mystery of what Adele’s angle was. It was told in a solid way.
KW — I agree. I always enjoy a book where you can get both sides of the story. I think the biggest piece of suspense for me was “HOW DOES ADELE KNOW EVERYTHING?!” It was blowing my mind.
Were there any themes that stood out to you?
DB — Ah, the modern day love triangle, with a twist!
Did you find the plot predictable?
KW — I was 99% sure throughout the book that Adele was the crazy one, not David. But there were definitely times that I was unsure. I assumed it was her that had killed Rob. But the very end – that was the twist I didn’t expect. So it was unpredictable wrapped in semi-predictable, if that makes sense.
Over all, 1-10, what would you give it…
KW — I gave it a 4 on Goodreads, but I wanted to give it a 4.5, so I’d say 9. I really liked it. I think some people may have felt disappointed because it became supernatural, which isn’t what I was expecting.
DB — I wasn’t expecting that either. But I’m glad it was saved for the very end, and while it was obviously crucial to the plot, we weren’t exposed to supernatural elements during a majority of the story.
KW — I completely agree. Because even though she was having an out of body experience, I didn’t feel any kind of way about that. It didn’t actually seem supernatural until the very end for me.
Would you recommend this book to someone?
DB — Definitely, yes. I really enjoyed the book, I thought it was tough to put down.
