In my home, succulent’s rule the kingdom. I have one, two, or three potted beauties in about every room, on every available surface imaginable. Not only are succulents so intrinsically gorgeous, but they are extremely low maintenance. Read: very tough to kill and seldom watering.
My coffee table was finally delivered last week, which means, I now have a brand new space that is dying to house another batch of plants! I couldn’t think of anything more perfect than succulent garden for a coffee table centerpiece. Here’s a step by step tutorial on building you’re own succulent garden:
Supplies Needed:
- Colorful Pots, Alternating Sizes
- Cactus or Potting Mix
- Variety of Succulents {aim for at least three separate shades}
Directions:
One || Remove plastic succulents from plastic potsTwo || In your largest pot, add two inches of potting mix
Three || Place your largest succulent into the potFour || Gently slide succulent No. 1 to the rim of the potFive || Place succulent No. 2 next to succulent No. 1Six || Gently push succulent No. 2 towards the rim of the potSeven || As gently as you can, squeeze in succulent No. 3 (should be the smallest of the bunch)Eight || Add potting mix to fill in any gaps / holes for an even soil level
For my coffee table centerpiece, I wanted to go with a trio of potted plants. In addition to the succulent garden, I decided to add two smaller pieces; with only one plant per pot. The cutest, albeit prickly, cactus with pink flowers (!) and a bromeliad.This was very simple and required a smooth transfer:
- Add a small amount of potting mix to the bottom of the pot
- Gently transfer the plug into your soiled pot
- Add a small amount of potting mix to ensure an even soil level
Fun Fact: Bromeliad’s are tropical creatures, and make great indoor plants. They have a very high tolerance for all different types of light exposure. The smaller pots were all but a 30 second ordeal. And here is the final product that is now proudly sitting on my coffee table:
