Last weekend, Alex and I took a little winter weekend escape to sunny and warm Los Angeles. Alex had a few meetings planned throughout our trip. One happened to be at Caltech, and luckily for me, The Huntington is just around the corner. And that’s what I decided to do to occupy myself while my husband was in a meeting. I really couldn’t think of a better way to spend a Friday morning, strolling around The Huntington Gardens — it was just marvelous.
THE HUNTINGTON GARDENS
Most of the roses in the rose garden were on the weaker side from the cold, I presume. But these babies were the most vibrant ones of them all! I just loved seeing the orange trees. It reminded me of the artwork from Commonwealth, and brought back happy memories of reading the book. There is a little information center just prior to entering the gardens. I stopped inside after my self walking tour. Inside was some history explaining the Huntington Family, and how it all came to be. They also had cute origami of turtles, and neat art to look at. Touring the gardens was definitely a highlight of the trip. It was so peaceful, and the grounds were so well kept. If you’re ever in Pasadena, I highly recommend going!
