If you could even understand my obsession with Liane Moriarty ‘s writing, you’d have a grasp on my excitement that Big Little Lies — the HBO mini series — is here, and I’m so very excited to share with you my thoughts on this.
WHEN A BOOK YOU LOVE BECOMES A MINI SERIES
I first read BLL in early 2015, after I finished my first Moriarty novel, The Husbands Secret. Which currently, on Amazon, has nearly eighteen thousand 5-Star reviews. I’ve mentioned before how I got hooked on her writing, and now thrilled to report that I’ve read most of Moriarty’s books. I’m sure BLL has been a book club book for many of you. It’s been blowing up charts all over the internet lately. If you haven’t, I strongly encourage you to read the book! And then dive into the mini series.
THE MINI SERIES
Last year, there were rumors that HBO was adapting BLL into a mini series, and I was pumped. But also a bit nervous, because book to screen isn’t always the best, and very tricky to pull off. The premiere was on Sunday, and WOW. It was FABULOUS. Expectations were blown away, and I can’t wait to watch week by week as the story unfolds its juicy, delicious secrets. Here’s the trailer for a little tease.
We’re talking a A+ casting list: Reese Witherspoon (yes, please). Nicole Kidman (excellent). Shailene Woodley (I love her). Alexander Skarsgård (drooling). Zoe Kravitz (perfect). Adam Scott (adorable).
I really hope that the rest of the series follows suit, and perhaps HBO will keep an open mind to creating other Moriarty books into a series as well? What Alice Forgot, I’m talking about you! What are some books you’d love to see converted into a mini series? Do you love or loath the idea? Also, has anyone started watching Fargo?
