Of course, since it’s Hollywood, and no one has any original ideas anymore, a ton of books will be turned into movies this year. The list below is comprised solely of books I’ve personally read or ones that are on my to-read list.
Pet Semetery by Stephen King — April 5, 2019
I really love Stephen Kings work, and would love to be able to read every single one of his books. But where is the time? Anyway, Pet Cemetery is supposed to be one of his scariest reads — adding it to my list meow! Pet Cemetery is already a movie, originally released in 1989, however they are remaking it for the 30 year anniversary. Cool!
The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon — May 17, 2019
What a fantastic story. I really enjoyed it as a book. Though I can see the movie version as a cheesy and terrible adaption (just like Yoon’s other book). Either way, I definitely recommend reading if you’re into things like signs from the universe, fate, and coincidences. It was a cute book.
The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion — June 14, 2019
Adorable book and it will be an adorable movie. The Rosie Project is one of Liane Moriarty’s favorite books, so you know it’s a good read. I’m very much looking forward to this movie! Rumors are that Ryan Reynolds will play Don Tillman.
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah — TBA, Summer
FINALLY! But I honestly don’t know if I want to go see it… it was such a gorgeous book that I’m terribly afraid the movie version will ruin it for me. But if you haven’t read The Nightingale yet, I highly suggest you do. It’s a fantastic WWII story.
It by Stephen King– September 6, 2019
Well, technically It came out in theaters two years ago, so we’re referring to Part II. My youngest brother and I loved every minute of Part I, I’ll probably wait until it’s available on Netflix so we can watch Part II together. Along with our other brother, who hates horror films (what a baby) but we bullied him into going to see Part I — so I mean… he needs to finish the series.
The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn — October 04, 2019
OK, I’ll admit, I didn’t love the book. I thought it was an annoying read with way too many holes in the plot. BUT I can also see it being a good movie — weird how that works. Especially since Amy Adams and Julianne Moore as slated to be the two stars.
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt — October 11, 2019
Yay! I finished the audiobook a few months ago, and now really excited it’ll be a movie. It was a very, very long audiobook at 32 hours but it was a fantastic story. I’m very excited to see it on screen this fall.
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett— TBA
This is a story that’s been turned into a movie several times. The earliest adaptation was in 1949 — wow! The most up to date version is from 1993, and now again in 2019. I loved this book as a child and excited to see a modern day take on it.
All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven– TBA
All the Bright Places was a cute novel, I really enjoyed it when I read it. I hope they do a decent job converting the story to a movie. I can see it being a bit cheesy, but also kind of cute. We shall see!
Welp, if you’re looking for your next book, I suggest something from the list above. There’s something for every genre: horror, romance, historical fiction, and young adult. Enjoy!
