Port Clinton, Ohio
One of my best friends from college got married this past weekend, in Port Clinton, Ohio. In case you have no idea where that is (I didn’t either…), it’s a small island off Lake Erie. Logistically a nightmare to get to, so we decided to drive. Yes, drive from Washington, DC to Port Clinton, Ohio.
Since Alex and I have vastly different tastes in music, tolerance for the other persons choice of Pandora station is at a minimum. We opted to stick with podcasts, and Serial couldn’t have been a better choice. We stopped for a dinner of Chick-fil-A (a road-trip must!) we hit I-70 West, and continued on for the next eight hours.
Though, around 2AM we called it quits. Found a hotel room right off the highway, and spent the night. We woke, had breakfast, and got right back on the road.
By Saturday morning, at 10am sharp, we finally made it to the Bed and Breakfast the bride and groom rented for the bridal party. It was beyond adorable! The rest of the day was consumed with (in no particular order): blow-outs, curling irons, SO much hairspray, home manicures, steaming dresses, applying false eye lashes, testing out 30 tubes of pink lip stick to find just the right shade, eyebrow pluckings, jewelry cleaning, tears of joy/ excitement, double sided tape, beer with adorable Etsy straws, and lots of jittery nerves.
Bridesmaids
I Do’s were at 4:30pm, and with the help of a fierce wedding planner, there were no hiccups. The bouquets (pink and cream peonies!) were stunning, the cupcakes were delicious, the weather cooperated, and the bride looked like she could have been featured in The Knot. Dancing consumed the rest of the summer night, until we said our goodbyes to the bride and groom with a sparkler send-off- now husband and wife.
