Oddly enough, of all the audiobooks I’ve listened to this year, I’ve found every single one of them to be extremely binge-worthy, but only a handful are actually worth recommending to you. Funny how that works, huh? Here are two of my recent favorites.
Two Excellent Audiobooks to Binge
NEXT YEAR IN HAVANA BY CHANEL CLEETON
This was a novel I had on my list for a while, and I’m so glad I downloaded it. Next Year in Havana is a historical fiction centering around the Cuban Revolution. Admittedly, I went into this with very little knowledge on the Cuban Revolution, however it was quite interesting and extremely heartbreaking. The pacing was excellent, and I felt like I learned a ton. My one complaint is that the book got too political at times, and went a bit overboard driving certain points home, but overall it was very enjoyable.
SUCH A FUN AGE BY KILEY REID
For starters, the narrator (Nicole Lewis) of Such a Fun Age was incredible. She brought so much life to all our characters, in addition to giving color and flair to this entertaining, yet complex story. This novel tackles racism, privilege, motherhood, and intentions with poor consequences all in one beautifully crafted package. I found this book really difficult to put down and very engrossed in the story.
Between the superior narration of these stories, and the plots themselves, I very much enjoyed both books, and recommend them to you if you’re looking for your next audiobook.
