The Fall 2016 Round Up of Nail Hues

Ladies. I’m excited. And I know, I know how basic this is going to sound but… fall is H E R E and, yes, I’m excited. Not only is fall here, but so are my new autumn nail hues for the 2016 season. I ordered from none other than Essie and OPI’s Fall 2016 line. Whoop!

Can we talk for just one sec about how perfect the Essie line is? It’s inspired by Tokyo. And in their own words for why Tokyo —

Japan’s electric capital taste, flair, and an uncanny aptitude for mixing fashion metaphors.

ALSO, Tokyo is where Alex and I are going on our honeymoon come April 2017! Needless to say, this line particularly spoke to me.

As for OPI’s Fall Collection, well their collection is all about Washington, DC. And since we’re proud DC residents, how could I not?

OK, OK, OK let’s get into these two delicious lines.

I decided to pace myself, and start with two polishes. Which, btw, was a really hard choice to make since they are all so perfect and gorgeous. I ended up ordering kimono-over and playing koi.

I was pretty happy with how playing koi came out, it’s seriously a stunning shade of orange. It reminds me of the color of the leafs that litter the side walks and streets, mixed with pumpkins, and sweater weather. Cinnamon. Apples. Cider. Ankle Boots. Eek!

I was a bit surprised that kimono-over came out as dark as it did. It’s nearly black, which is never bad for fall, but I was expecting something a bit more purple. Similar to OPI’s Miss You-Niverse (see pic on left).

OPI | Washington, DC

There are a total of fifteen shades in this collection. I’m getting married in 78 days, and for the sake of keeping a modest budget, I controlled myself and only ordered one of their mini sample sets. Each of their sample sets contains four colors. The one I got came with:

Never a Dulles Moment. I had never really considered a yellow for fall, but I have to say, this color is great and pretty pumped it came in my pack.
Pale to the Chief. Who doesn’t love a fall neutral? This is a great color that blends with my capsule wardrobe to the T.
CIA = Color is Awesome. Not even a joke. Such a unique blended teal color, erring on the side of a smart, cool, and polished.
We the Female. A killer shade of red that has proved so far to be a compliment magnet.
