Oh hello, Monday morning! I may be alone when saying this, but I adore Mondays. They are by far, your best bet for setting the tone right for a productive, healthy, and happy week ahead.
Sure, that also means a full work week ahead but let’s turn that perspective around, and dive into some little easy things to do to help you get there.
10 LITTLE EASY THINGS TO DO FOR A BETTER MONDAY
1. EAT BREAKFAST
There is no way that today, or any other day will get off on the right foot without eating a hearty breakfast. Seriously, even if it’s just a cup of yogurt, make sure you eat something to start your morning.
2. WALK IT OUT
If there is any day to skip a 30 minute sweat, Monday isn’t the day. Get up a bit earlier, and even if you simply walk around the neighborhood for 30 minutes, just do it!
3. MAKE YOUR BED
OK, so I can’t take the credit for this in our house — Alex is in charge of making the bed every single morning. But well before he came into the picture, it’s engrained in me to make the bed. As it should be for you as well. If you’re not in the habit of making your bed each morning, I highly consider you to rethink it.
4. CLEAN UP THE KITCHEN
Similar to making the bed, coming home to a clean — no dishes in the sink or on the counters — space will make all the difference in the world. Especially since the kitchen is the first place we gravitate towards once we come home, it’s nice to have a clean, clutter free space.
5. FIVE MINUTE PHONE CALL WITH FAMILY
I typically reserve commute time for catching up with my family. I love to see what they were up to over the weekend, and chat about what’s ahead. Most of the time, chatting with my beloved family puts me in a great mood to start the day.
6. WRITE UP A WEEKLY OVERVIEW
Once you’ve had your coffee, sit down and jot out everything and anything that needs to get done. It’ll help organize yourself for the week ahead. I like to call these brain dumps where you dump out anything that needs to get done, followed up on, etc.
7. TACKLE THE MOST DAUNTING ITEM FIRST
Ah, and then, do whatever it is you’ve been avoiding for the best few weeks, or dreading something that came up today. You’ll feel much better after it’s crossed off your list, and hey! You won’t have to spend the rest of the week looking at it!
8. PICK A WEEKLY GOAL
Goal setting on a weekly basis is a great way to focus yourself, and ensure you are on track with monthly goals. Lately, mine has been ensuring I attend a yoga class at least once a week. It’s easy, obtainable, and I feel good once I do it!
9. SHARE YOUR GRATITUDE
People love hearing that they are a part of your joy. It makes them feel special, which in turn will make you feel special. But more than that, it’s a great thing to do, by spreading your love and joy.
10. HAVE A ‘NO COMPLAINT’ DAY
And lastly, though a bit tricky, try to go the entire day without complaining. No one really cares about your petty problems anyway! Sorry!
PS. here are some things to do on Sunday, that also make Monday’s a bit easier…
