You’re probably wondering what a lollipop moment is. Let me explain. I stumbled across this TED Talk over the weekend, and I have to say, I’m blown away by what Drew Dudley is proposing in his six minute talk. Through Dudley’s brilliance, he has left a huge impact on his audience. Encouraging us to reshape the way we, as individuals, look at the idea of leadership. He proposes we start to discover the leaders that we all are, whether we think we deserve it or not.
Typically, we view leadership as an act on a very, very large scale, something beyond us, something that changes the world. This isn’t the case at all. Our definition of leadership has been distorted. Leadership is simply how a small implication can make major impacts and changes within just one persons life.
You, yes YOU, dear reader, are considered a leader if you’ve positively changed someone’s life — and there is a very strong chance you have! We all have. You have affected people, friends, family, and even strangers, in ways you have no idea of. Chances are, you don’t even know you’ve done so.
And on the flip side, we have all been the receivers of someone’s kindness, someones small act had changed the trajectory of our own lives. This small act is something that said person probably doesn’t remember, or ever aware of how much of an impact they left on us– we need to tell them. Share with them how much they impacted us, and celebrate them.
“Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our greatest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, and not our darkness, that frightens us.” — Marianne Williamson
