You know what they say, right? Your makeup is only half as good as the brush you use to apply it. Did you know that? Makeup brushes are the most essential tools in your kit, and it may come to a shock — but many women over look the importance of a good makeup brush.
It can be intimidating, as there are hundreds, and hundreds of different types of makeup brushes out there. I’m a believer in starting small, one or two purchases at a time to build and grow your empire of tools. Sometimes it takes a while to find the right brush for you, but know that all brushes need to be paired with their own separate type of makeup. Example, bronzer and blush will each need their own individual brush.
Here are the six brushes that work best for a simple everyday makeup routine.
1 Not all good quality brushes have to be expensive. E.L.F proves that — their foundation brush is $2.00 — no joke! It does a fantastic job of blending in concealer and leaves your face primed and ready for the next steps.
2 Beautiful Finish Brush works like a dream with bareMinerals foundation, I recently switched over to this brush and I don’t think I’ll ever go back… The way the brush scoops up powder like a sponge, and evenly distributes it all over is just .. wonderful.
3 I use Sephora’s Pro Flawless Bronzer brush for exactly what you’d guess — bronzer. The rounded head makes it easy to spread the tiniest bit of bronzer evenly around my face, while leaving an airbrush quality finish.
4 Blooming Blush Brush is another bareMinerals find, I love how perfectly angled it is, which makes gliding it up and down my cheek bones seamless. I’ve been using this brush for a while, and have to say — I love it. I think it’s tough to find a good quality blush brush, and after going through dozens, I’m glad I came across this one.
5 Sephora’s Pro Airbrush Blender is a godsend, IMO. The brush is made up of pointed, super fine synthetic fibers and is the ultimate brush for a finishing look. Paired with a finishing powder, this brush is truly unstoppable.
6 A while back I was introduced to Billion Dollar Brows, you may remember my post (here) trying it out. I’ve taken to brushing / grooming my eyebrows, and adding a dash of darkening powder after completing the rest of my face. It provides a subtle touch of shape and darkness to the brows that I love.
Another note — though I’m guilty of not doing so — it’s very important to constantly keep these brushes clean and well kept. Washing it with non-scented soap or shampoo at least once a week will help keep these bad boys healthy and last a while!
