We are a happy hungry culture. Everyone wants to be happy, do you know anyone who doesn’t strive for ultimate happiness? Constantly thinking about it? Like all day, every day?
I know I do.
I read books, listen to podcasts, pour over blogs and articles, all while simultaneously yielding the advice of the happiest, lightest, carefree people in my life. I even signed up for this coursea class (which was awesome).
All of these tools contain a deeply instrumental, and absolutely crucial, key factor: You can’t truly be happy until you learn to love yourself.
You could have guessed that, couldn’t you? It seems so obvious, yet, it’s really not. Because self-love isn’t so simple.
Well, as luck had it, I stumbled across Michelle D’Avella’s instagram. Which then prompted me to her website, Pushing Beauty (isn’t that a great name?!). This is where I happily stalked read her inspiring, uplifting blog posts — thoroughly and diligently (all in one sitting, I was that hooked). And then I saw it. Her free course — ‘A 4 Step Guide to Finding True Happiness Through Self Love.’
So I signed up.
And each week, for four weeks, a new step was promptly delivered to my inbox to take me there. When I say there I’m referring to a place of true happiness and fulfillment. I full heartily encourage you to check it out, guys, it’s free!
Here are four little gold nuggets that I pulled from following the ‘4 Step Guide to Finding True Happiness Through Self Love.’
- Stop trying to be someone you THINK you should be
- Understand that the present is the only moment that exists
- Have love and compassion for who you are
- Learn to accept ourselves
My favorite line, that struck a chord with me was —
“Learn to live in the balance of self-acceptance and growth”
I loved it, and want to share it with you dear readers, because together, we’re going to make 2016 the best year ever. Together, we will go on this journey. This year, Peonies and Bees will be focusing on happiness, so please come back — I encourage it!
