Ahh there’s nothing I love more than a great TED Talk to motivate me to lead a more thoughtful, positive, mindful life. And since the New Year is right around the corner, I figured now is the perfect time to share with you a five excellent TED Talks to inspire you, pump you up, and get you ready for twenty-eighteen.
Five Excellent TED Talks to Listen to Before 2018
1. Heather Lanier. “Good” and “Bad” are Incomplete Stories We Tell Ourselves.
We need to stop labeling things ‘good’ or ‘bad’ and simply change our perspective on the matter. Changing our story is crucial.
2. Emily Esfahani Smith. There’s More to Life Than Being Happy.
Chasing happiness causes people to feel unhappy. Happiness comes and goes, but when you have meaning in your life, it gives you something to hold onto.
3. Giulia Enders. The Surprisingly Charming Science of Your Gut.
OK, so this is all about poop and your gut bacteria — but it’s really interesting and totally eye opening! And anyone who knows me knows I’m obsessed with all things poop.
4. Adam Alter. Why Our Screens Make Us Less Happy.
Yeah yeah, we know. But before you write this off as another ‘we spend too much time glued to screens’ talk, watch it. It’s quite informative and gives some good suggestions. And yeah, it’s a good reminder to tone it back.
5. Tim Ferriss. Why You Should Define Your Fears Instead of Your Goals.
Dare I say it, Ferriss’s talk is an all time top tenner for me. I LOVED the message of stoicism and defining fears instead of goals. If you’re only going to watch one of these talks from my list make sure it’s this one.
Wishing you a very happy and safe New Years Eve, and I’ll see you back here next week! x
