In my best efforts to share something a bit more personal, I wanted to look back on my life these past twelve months, and review. Mainly, because I can’t help but glow when thinking of all the accomplishments, the changes, growth and the all the wonderful things that emerged from this time last year to right now. OK here goes —
Oh we traveled.
We took so many airplanes and trains in 2015. Chicago in January. Tucson in February (to meet Alex’s lovely parents for the very first time — eek!). A bachelorette party in the Bahamas in March. April took us down to Boca Raton to spend Passover with my wonderful silly family, and a wedding in Charleston. For Alex’s birthday weekend, we took the train up to NYC to meet his family. We flew back to Chicago for Memorial Day Weekend, and then across the country to Los Angeles the first week in June. Also in June, we made our second trip to NYC for a quick weekend and then a roadtrip for my besties wedding in Port Clinton, OH. Beach Week with my family in Ft. Myers in August. My cousins wedding in Long Island in September. And to conclude the yearly trips, we went back to Tucson for Christmas. Now, imagine if these were all booked on the same airline — oh the points!
Family.
This loving goofy family of mine. I was so lucky to be able to see everyone multiple times this year for weddings, vacations, holidays, and weekend trips. They live so far away (OK, maybe not that far). It is so important to see them in person, luckily, I did. Many times. A few solo trips to DC were made: my mom came to visit me over Halloween weekend, and my youngest brother was our weekend guest over the summer. I heart family time.
Fitspiration.
Staying healthy, fit, and strong is such an important aspect of my life. I crossed the finish lines of the Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure 5K (for my mother) and the Marine Corps Marathon 10K. Alex joined for his very first Turkey Trot 5K. Running took the back-burner this year, but I was relatively consistent with weekly yoga sessions (namaste) and I was pretty good about hitting the daily 10,000 steps on my FitBit. OK fine. Not everyday, but close. Oh! And how can I forget the beautiful Fuji road bike Alex got me over the summer?!
Bookworm.
I read nearly 30 books. Adding quite a few new thrillers to my shelf on our built in bookshelf. My favorites from 2015 are here, here, and here.
IMPROV, Yes, Please!
One of my favorite things about 2015 was beginning improv classes at DC Improv. I can’t even begin to explain the joy it brings me. I’m thrilled to report that classes start up again in January. I. Can’t. Wait. Completely. Dying. With. Excitement.
#GIRLBOSS.
In August I started a new job, with a wonderful company, and it brought on a whole new set of challenges — pushing me to achieve things I didn’t think were in my grasp. I remember feeling so overwhelmed the weeks before I started, as if I had bitten off more than I could chew. All of that disappeared, and rather quickly I may add! This is an excellent next step in my career, and I’m proud to say I’m very happy with where I am today.
Love.
I just need two sentences to gush about Alex, can I have just two? Here goes. I’m living with the man of my dreams. The type of man that I’ve spent the better part of my adult life praying for and I can’t wait for what 2016 has in store for us. See? That wasn’t so painful to read, was it?
Peonies and Bees.
I started this blog over Memorial Day Weekend (my first post here). I used to spend so much time reading other peoples blogs, growing green with blogger envy, until I thought, ‘I can do it too!’ So I did. And 7+ months later, here we are! This has been one of my favorite hobbies, and I can’t thank each and every one of my readers enough for their love and support.
I’ve had the BEST YEAR EVER. So many joyous moments, filled with dinners, happy hours, concerts, seminars, plays, travel, and laughter. I still can’t believe how quickly this year flew by, and can’t say enough how wonderful, incredible, and purely amazing this year has been. #Blessed
WISHING EVERYONE A HAPPY AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR! AND CHEERS TO 2016!
PS. Late January, I plan to have a Top 10 FAQ about myself. I’m taking any and all questions that come, so please email me or comment below with answers you’d like to hear!
